3/3/25. I asked my wife to go to this website and leave me a comment. The comment block is gone! Round Two, Hankes vs. NameCheap.
My buddy and Creative Writing student, and neighbor down the block, Tim Moyer, asked me how my novel is going. I told him that when it’s going well, I love talking about it! And it just so happens that it’s going particularly well right now.
Of course, that could change with the flip of the page, or the click of the down arrow.
Here’s why I’m psyched (remember when people actually said that?).
I have a good feeling about Act I of the novel. It moves along, keeping the tension up. It also introduces the characters well. It’s a good foundation for the rest of the book. On the other hand, I’ll be reviewing it starting Tuesday 3/4 or Wednesday 3/5, examining how many boxes in my Excel editing sheet it checks.
Act 2A starts with Kelsey Webb’s world turned upside down. The day in September I depict, unexpected surprises, good and bad, happen to her. Yet, so far, I’m still keeping the thread of the missing J-Club money forefront. I would like the novel to feel like a whirlwind for the eager teen reader, and so far its moving in that direction. After a long day at school, particularly in J-Club, Kelsey ends up in the superintendent’s office. She thinks he’s going to yell at her for her disrespect towards the annoying Mrs. Cunningham, the school’s business office supervisor. But that’s not what happens at all. As they say, the plot thickens. Nabokov wrote about how novels are a chess match between the writer and the reader. The writer’s goal, in thrillers anyway, is to keep the reader unbalanced.
We shall see how the writing goes today.
Thanks for reading!!!
